Fr Gerald Binegas RCJ
Fr. Gerald Binegas was born on 20th January 1979 in Abra (428 km north of Manila), Philippines. He joined the Rogationist order on 14th May 1995 and was ordained in 2009 after 14 years of study. He then was assigned to work as Vice Rector and Treasurer of St. Anthony’s Boys Village in Davao City (1476 km south of Manila), Philippines. The Boys’ Village cares for destitute, abandoned and orphaned boys. He then went to Papua New Guinea in 2013 continuing his missionary work for a year. Upon his return to the Philippines, he worked as a Vocation Promoter in his Congregation.
Fr. Gerald enjoys playing basketball and trying out new sports. He is also interested in becoming a keen bushwalker. He is a dog lover and tries not to spoil his dog Trigga (American bulldog) too much. His hobbies include photography and guitar playing. He loves to cook especially Filipino dishes and describes his style of cooking as ‘creative’.
Fr. Rene and Fr. Gerald both came to Australia in 2015 and are the first Rogationists to be assigned in Australia. Their friendly and warm engaging manner coupled by their passion and enthusiasm for their work in the Parish have made them welcome additions to our multi-cultural parish community.
They hope that this new phase in their lives as priests may become an effective avenue in sharing the charism of their Congregation to the people of the Archdiocese of Melbourne.
